With reference to a Lexis schema, the death rates are calculated by age and calendar year. This method places fewest restrictions on the data required and the mean lifeexpectancies are calculated on 5-year periods from 1977/81 and onwards.
In addition to gender, the calculations have also been carried out by birthplace and type of residence, just as calculations have been carried out for men and women in total.
